In Pairdle every tile is two letters, and each box in the answer row takes one tile. After a guess, a blue tile is the right pair in the right box, a red tile is in the word but in a different box, and a grey tile is not in the word at all.

Pairdle Standard: EVOKED
Twelve tiles, three boxes, solved in two guesses.

Friday's Pairdle board had twelve tiles and three boxes, so the answer had six letters. The board words were EVOKED, MERCER, LAUGHS and STANDS. The tiles could also spell STOKED and LASTED, which were not on the board. Those two were the traps.
The first guess was the trap STOKED, made of ST, OK and ED. ST came back grey and left the board. Losing ST also ruled out STANDS and LASTED.

OK turned blue in the second box and ED turned blue in the third box. Only EVOKED and STOKED end in OK and ED, and STOKED had just been ruled out, so the answer had to be EVOKED.

The second guess was EVOKED, made of EV, OK and ED. EV turned blue in the first box, next to the two pairs already in place. Two guesses.

Every word the Standard tiles could spell
The board is built from four words. Any other word the same tiles can spell is a trap: it looks right, but it was never on the board.
- EVOKED, the answer
- LASTED, trap word (not on the board)
- LAUGHS, on the board
- MERCER, on the board
- STANDS, on the board
- STOKED, trap word (not on the board)

Pairdle Pro: CARDINAL
Sixteen tiles, four boxes, solved in two guesses.

Friday's Pairdle Pro board had sixteen tiles and four boxes, so the answer had eight letters. The board words were CARDINAL, DOUBTFUL, PROGRAMS and PURSUANT. The tiles could not spell any other word, so there were no traps.
On Pro a guess does not have to be a word. The first guess was DO, CA, IN and PU, a mix of pairs from different words. DO and PU came back grey and left the board. Losing DO ruled out DOUBTFUL, and losing PU ruled out PURSUANT.

CA turned red. It was in the answer, but not in the second box. IN turned blue in the third box. CARDINAL is the only board word with both pairs, so the answer was clear.

The second guess was CARDINAL, made of CA, RD, IN and AL. Moving CA to the first box turned it blue, and RD and AL turned blue in the second and fourth boxes. Two guesses.

Pairdle Expert: DEMOLITION
Twenty tiles, five boxes, solved in three guesses.

Friday's Pairdle Expert board had twenty tiles and five boxes, so the answer had ten letters. The board words were DEMOLITION, MATTRESSES, EXCITEMENT and FRIENDSHIP. The tiles could not spell any other word, so there were no traps.
The first guess was EXCITEMENT, made of EX, CI, TE, ME and NT. All five pairs came back grey and left the board.

On Expert a guess does not have to be a word. The second guess was FR, MO, SS, TI and ON, a mix of pairs from the other three words. FR and SS came back grey. Losing FR ruled out FRIENDSHIP, and losing SS ruled out MATTRESSES.

MO turned blue in the second box, TI in the fourth and ON in the fifth. Only DEMOLITION has those pairs in those boxes, so the answer was clear.

The third guess was DEMOLITION, made of DE, MO, LI, TI and ON. DE and LI turned blue in the first and third boxes, next to the three pairs already in place. Three guesses.

Shout-outs to the one-guess winners are in the video.
