All Pairdle recaps

Pairdle recap for Thursday, October 29, 2026

The answers were PASTOR (Standard), WETLANDS (Pro), REPRESENTS (Expert). Below is each board as it was dealt, every guess with its colours, and the words the tiles could spell that were not on the board.

In Pairdle every tile is two letters, and each box in the answer row takes one tile. After a guess, a blue tile is the right pair in the right box, a red tile is in the word but in a different box, and a grey tile is not in the word at all.

Pairdle Standard: PASTOR

Twelve tiles, three boxes, solved in two guesses.

The Pairdle Standard board for October 29, 2026 before any guess: three empty answer boxes above twelve letter tiles, LE, OR, NT, PA, MO, ST, SI, RT, NI, ES, EX, PO.

Thursday's Pairdle board had twelve tiles and three boxes, so the answer had six letters. The board words were PASTOR, EXPORT, MONIES and SILENT. The tiles could also spell PONIES and STORES, which were not on the board. Those two were the traps.

The first guess was the trap STORES, made of ST, OR and ES. ES came back grey and left the board. Losing ES also ruled out PONIES and MONIES.

Guess 1, STORES: ST red, OR red, ES grey.

ST and OR both turned red. They were in the answer, but not in the first and second boxes. EXPORT and SILENT have neither pair, so the answer had to be PASTOR.

Guess 2, PASTOR: every box blue, PA, ST, OR. That solved it.

The second guess was PASTOR, made of PA, ST and OR. Moving ST to the second box and OR to the third box turned them both blue, and PA turned blue in the first box. Two guesses.

Both Pairdle Standard guesses for October 29, 2026 stacked in order, STORES, then PASTOR, with the last row all blue.

Every word the Standard tiles could spell

The board is built from four words. Any other word the same tiles can spell is a trap: it looks right, but it was never on the board.

  • EXPORT, on the board
  • MONIES, on the board
  • PASTOR, the answer
  • PONIES, trap word (not on the board)
  • SILENT, on the board
  • STORES, trap word (not on the board)

Pairdle Pro: WETLANDS

Sixteen tiles, four boxes, solved in three guesses.

The Pairdle Pro board for October 29, 2026 before any guess: four empty answer boxes above sixteen letter tiles, ME, FY, TL, TI, UL, BP, EN, WE, AN, DS, AT, GR, EF, ID, SU, RI.

Thursday's Pairdle Pro board had sixteen tiles and four boxes, so the answer had eight letters. The board words were WETLANDS, SUBPRIME, GRATEFUL and IDENTIFY. The tiles could not spell any other word, so there were no traps.

The first guess was GRATEFUL, made of GR, AT, EF and UL. All four pairs came back grey and left the board. That ruled out GRATEFUL itself and left three words.

Guess 1, GRATEFUL: GR grey, AT grey, EF grey, UL grey.

On Pro a guess does not have to be a word. The second guess was SU, EN, AN and DS. SU and EN came back grey. Losing SU ruled out SUBPRIME, and losing EN ruled out IDENTIFY.

Guess 2, the pairs SU, EN, AN, DS: SU grey, EN grey, AN blue, DS blue.

AN and DS turned blue in the third and fourth boxes. Only WETLANDS ends in AN and DS, so the answer was clear.

Guess 3, WETLANDS: every box blue, WE, TL, AN, DS. That solved it.

The third guess was WETLANDS, made of WE, TL, AN and DS. WE and TL turned blue in the first two boxes, next to the two pairs already in place. Three guesses.

All three Pairdle Pro guesses for October 29, 2026 stacked in order, GRATEFUL, then the pairs SU, EN, AN, DS, then WETLANDS, with the last row all blue.

Pairdle Expert: REPRESENTS

Twenty tiles, five boxes, solved in three guesses.

The Pairdle Expert board for October 29, 2026 before any guess: five empty answer boxes above twenty letter tiles, TS, EN, ND, RE, IO, TO, SP, AS, SH, ES, IC, PR, ED, BA, NI, SU, GR, OU, CK, US.

Thursday's Pairdle Expert board had twenty tiles and five boxes, so the answer had ten letters. The board words were REPRESENTS, SUSPICIOUS, ASTONISHED and BACKGROUND. The tiles could not spell any other word, so there were no traps.

The board words share no pairs, so each word guess tests one word at a time. The first guess was BACKGROUND, made of BA, CK, GR, OU and ND. All five pairs came back grey and left the board.

Guess 1, BACKGROUND: BA grey, CK grey, GR grey, OU grey, ND grey.

The second guess was SUSPICIOUS, made of SU, SP, IC, IO and US. All five came back grey too. That left REPRESENTS and ASTONISHED, with nothing on the board to tell them apart.

Guess 2, SUSPICIOUS: SU grey, SP grey, IC grey, IO grey, US grey.

The third guess was REPRESENTS, made of RE, PR, ES, EN and TS. All five pairs turned blue. Three guesses.

Guess 3, REPRESENTS: every box blue, RE, PR, ES, EN, TS. That solved it.
All three Pairdle Expert guesses for October 29, 2026 stacked in order, BACKGROUND, then SUSPICIOUS, then REPRESENTS, with the last row all blue.

Shout-outs to the one-guess winners are in the video.
