In Pairdle every tile is two letters, and each box in the answer row takes one tile. After a guess, a blue tile is the right pair in the right box, a red tile is in the word but in a different box, and a grey tile is not in the word at all.

Pairdle Standard: LENSES
Twelve tiles, three boxes, solved in three guesses.

Thursday's Pairdle board had twelve tiles and three boxes, so the answer had six letters. The board words were LENSES, VISITS, DETAIL and MANNER. The tiles could also spell SINNER and TANNER, which were not on the board. Those were the traps.
The first guess was the trap TANNER. TA, NN and ER all came back grey and left the board.

That ruled out a lot. MANNER and SINNER need NN and ER. DETAIL needs TA. Only VISITS and LENSES were left.

The second guess was VISITS. VI, SI and TS all came back grey too.

The third guess was LENSES. LE, NS and ES all turned blue. Three guesses.

Every word the Standard tiles could spell
The board is built from four words. Any other word the same tiles can spell is a trap: it looks right, but it was never on the board.
- DETAIL, on the board
- LENSES, the answer
- MANNER, on the board
- SINNER, trap word (not on the board)
- TANNER, trap word (not on the board)
- VISITS, on the board

Pairdle Pro: TETHERED
Sixteen tiles, four boxes, solved in two guesses.

Thursday's Pairdle Pro board had sixteen tiles and four boxes, so the answer had eight letters. The board words were TETHERED, EMPHASIS, EYEBALLS and POSITION. The tiles could also spell EMISSION, POISONED and TEASPOON, which were not on the board. Those were the traps.
The first guess was the trap TEASPOON. TE turned blue, so it was the right pair in the right box. AS, PO and ON came back grey and left the board.

EMPHASIS needs AS, so it was out. POSITION needs PO and ON, so it was out too. EYEBALLS starts with EY, not TE. That left TETHERED as the only word that starts with TE.

The second guess was TETHERED. TE was already locked in, and TH, ER and ED turned blue. Two guesses.

- POISONED, trap word (not on the board)
- POSITION, on the board
- TEASPOON, trap word (not on the board)

Pairdle Expert: MINIMALIST
Twenty tiles, five boxes, solved in two guesses.

Thursday's Pairdle Expert board had twenty tiles and five boxes, so the answer had ten letters. The board words were MINIMALIST, SUBSECTION, PERFORMERS and CRIMINALLY. The tiles could also spell IMPERSONAL, PERFECTION and PERSONALLY, which were not on the board. Those were the traps.
The first guess was the trap PERSONALLY. All five pairs came back grey: PE, RS, ON, AL and LY. They all left the board.

Losing those five tiles knocked out almost everything. PERFORMERS, PERFECTION and IMPERSONAL need PE. SUBSECTION needs ON. CRIMINALLY needs AL and LY. Only MINIMALIST was left, and it uses none of those tiles.

The second guess was MINIMALIST. MI, NI, MA, LI and ST all turned blue. Two guesses.
