In Pairdle every tile is two letters, and each box in the answer row takes one tile. After a guess, a blue tile is the right pair in the right box, a red tile is in the word but in a different box, and a grey tile is not in the word at all.

Pairdle Standard: VANISH
Twelve tiles, three boxes, solved in three guesses.

Friday's Pairdle board had twelve tiles and three boxes, so the answer had six letters. The board words were VANISH, ENLIST, CRUSTY and PROFIT. The tiles could also spell LISTEN and VANITY, which were not on the board. Those two were traps.
The first guess was the trap LISTEN. LI, ST and EN all came back grey and left the board. Losing LI, ST and EN ruled out ENLIST.

The second guess was the trap VANITY. VA and NI turned blue, so the answer starts with VA and then NI. TY came back grey and left the board. Losing TY ruled out CRUSTY. PROFIT does not start with VA, so only VANISH was left.

The third guess was VANISH. VA and NI stayed blue and SH turned blue. Three guesses.

Every word the Standard tiles could spell
The board is built from four words. Any other word the same tiles can spell is a trap: it looks right, but it was never on the board.
- CRUSTY, on the board
- ENLIST, on the board
- LISTEN, trap word (not on the board)
- PROFIT, on the board
- VANISH, the answer
- VANITY, trap word (not on the board)

Pairdle Pro: WONDERED
Sixteen tiles, four boxes, solved in two guesses.

Friday's Pairdle Pro board had sixteen tiles and four boxes, so the answer had eight letters. The board words were WONDERED, ADMIRING, PAVILION and CRUISERS. The tiles could also spell ADVISERS and LINGERED, which were not on the board. Those two were traps.
The first guess was the trap LINGERED. LI and NG came back grey and left the board. Losing LI ruled out PAVILION. Losing NG ruled out ADMIRING. ER and ED turned blue, so the answer ends with ER in the third box and ED in the fourth. CRUISERS has neither pair, so only WONDERED was left.

The second guess was WONDERED. WO and ND turned blue next to the ER and ED already in place. Two guesses.

Pairdle Expert: COMMENTARY
Twenty tiles, five boxes, solved in two guesses.

Friday's Pairdle Expert board had twenty tiles and five boxes, so the answer had ten letters. The board words were COMMENTARY, REHEARSING, HYPOCRITES and APPETIZERS. The tiles could also spell COMMENTING and COMMITTING, which were not on the board. Those two were traps.
Three of those words start with CO and MM: COMMENTARY and both traps. The first guess was the trap COMMITTING. CO and MM turned blue, so the answer starts with CO in the first box and MM in the second. That ruled out REHEARSING, HYPOCRITES and APPETIZERS. IT, TI and NG came back grey and left the board. Losing TI and NG ruled out COMMENTING as well, so only COMMENTARY was left.

The second guess was COMMENTARY. EN, TA and RY turned blue next to the CO and MM already in place. Two guesses.
