In Pairdle every tile is two letters, and each box in the answer row takes one tile. After a guess, a blue tile is the right pair in the right box, a red tile is in the word but in a different box, and a grey tile is not in the word at all.

Pairdle Standard: PASSER
Twelve tiles, three boxes, solved in two guesses.

Thursday's Pairdle board had twelve tiles and three boxes, so the answer had six letters. The board words were PASSER, ADULTS, SNACKS and SPARSE. The tiles could also spell SPARKS, which was not on the board. That one was a trap.
The first guess was the trap SPARKS. SP, AR and KS all came back grey and left the board. Losing SP and AR ruled out SPARSE. Losing KS ruled out SNACKS. That left PASSER and ADULTS, and those two share no pairs, so it came down to a pick.

The second guess was PASSER. PA, SS and ER all turned blue. Two guesses.

Every word the Standard tiles could spell
The board is built from four words. Any other word the same tiles can spell is a trap: it looks right, but it was never on the board.
- ADULTS, on the board
- PASSER, the answer
- SNACKS, on the board
- SPARKS, trap word (not on the board)
- SPARSE, on the board

Pairdle Pro: DINOSAUR
Sixteen tiles, four boxes, solved in two guesses.

Thursday's Pairdle Pro board had sixteen tiles and four boxes, so the answer had eight letters. The board words were DINOSAUR, PASSIONS, REFINING and WONDROUS. The tiles could not spell any other word, so there were no traps. The four words share no pairs.
The first guess was not a word. It used one pair from each board word, each put in a box it does not hold in its own word: NO from DINOSAUR in the first box, WO from WONDROUS in the second, SS from PASSIONS in the third and RE from REFINING in the fourth. WO, SS and RE came back grey and left the board. That ruled out WONDROUS, PASSIONS and REFINING. NO turned red, so NO is in the answer but not in the first box. Only DINOSAUR has NO, and it has it in the second box.

The second guess was DINOSAUR. DI, NO, SA and UR all turned blue. Two guesses.

Pairdle Expert: TRIUMPHANT
Twenty tiles, five boxes, solved in three guesses.

Thursday's Pairdle Expert board had twenty tiles and five boxes, so the answer had ten letters. The board words were TRIUMPHANT, APPRENTICE, PARTICULAR and SUBSCRIBED. The tiles could not spell any other word, so there were no traps. The four words share no pairs.
The first guess was the board word PARTICULAR. PA, RT, IC, UL and AR all came back grey and left the board. That ruled out PARTICULAR and nothing else.

The second guess was not a word. It used AP and TI from APPRENTICE in the first and fourth boxes, BS and ED from SUBSCRIBED in the second and fifth, and HA from TRIUMPHANT in the third box. AP, BS, TI and ED came back grey and left the board. That ruled out APPRENTICE and SUBSCRIBED. HA turned red, so HA is in the answer but not in the third box. Only TRIUMPHANT has HA, and it has it in the fourth box.

The third guess was TRIUMPHANT. TR, IU, MP, HA and NT all turned blue. Three guesses.
