In Pairdle every tile is two letters, and each box in the answer row takes one tile. After a guess, a blue tile is the right pair in the right box, a red tile is in the word but in a different box, and a grey tile is not in the word at all.

Pairdle Standard: RULERS
Twelve tiles, three boxes, solved in three guesses.

Thursday's Pairdle board had twelve tiles and three boxes, so the answer had six letters. The board words were FOSTER, INSANE, MEDLEY and RULERS. The tiles could not spell any other word, so there were no traps.
The first guess was MEDLEY, one of the board words. ME, DL and EY all came back grey, and those three tiles left the board. That ruled out MEDLEY, but no other word uses those tiles.

The second guess was three pairs that do not make a word: LE, ST and RS. ST came back grey and left the board. That ruled out FOSTER, which needs ST. LE turned red, so LE is in the answer but in a different box. RS turned blue, so RS sits in the last box. INSANE has no LE, so it was out too.

RULERS starts with RU, has LE in the middle box and ends with RS. The third guess was RULERS. RU and LE turned blue next to the RS that was already in place. Three guesses.

Pairdle Pro: FANCIFUL
Sixteen tiles, four boxes, solved in two guesses.

Thursday's Pairdle Pro board had sixteen tiles and four boxes, so the answer had eight letters. The board words were BIRTHDAY, FANCIFUL, NOMINATE and PROPERTY. The tiles could not spell any other word, so there were no traps.
With no trap to try, the first guess took one pair from four different words: UL, BI, NC and TY. It was not a word. BI and TY came back grey and left the board. That ruled out BIRTHDAY, which needs BI, and PROPERTY, which needs TY. UL and NC turned red, so both are in the answer but in different boxes. NOMINATE has neither of them, so it was out as well.

FANCIFUL was the only word left. It has NC in the second box and UL in the last box. The second guess was FANCIFUL. FA, NC, IF and UL all turned blue. Two guesses.

Pairdle Expert: PROFITABLE
Twenty tiles, five boxes, solved in three guesses.

Thursday's Pairdle Expert board had twenty tiles and five boxes, so the answer had ten letters. The board words were DELIVERING, IDEOLOGIES, IMPORTANCE and PROFITABLE. The tiles could also spell DELIVERIES, which was not on the board. It was a trap.
The first guess was the trap DELIVERIES. DE, LI, VE, RI and ES all came back grey, and those five tiles left the board. That ruled out DELIVERING, which needs DE, LI, VE and RI, and IDEOLOGIES, which needs ES. Only IMPORTANCE and PROFITABLE were left.

The second guess was five pairs that do not make a word: AB, OF, IM, PO and PR. IM and PO came back grey, which ruled out IMPORTANCE. AB and PR turned red, so both are in the answer but in different boxes. OF turned blue, so OF sits in the second box.

PROFITABLE starts with PR, has OF in the second box and AB in the fourth. The third guess was PROFITABLE. PR, IT, AB and LE turned blue next to the OF that was already in place. Three guesses.

Every word the Expert tiles could spell
The board is built from four words. Any other word the same tiles can spell is a trap: it looks right, but it was never on the board.
- DELIVERIES, trap word (not on the board)
- DELIVERING, on the board
- IDEOLOGIES, on the board
- IMPORTANCE, on the board
- PROFITABLE, the answer
