In Pairdle every tile is two letters, and each box in the answer row takes one tile. After a guess, a blue tile is the right pair in the right box, a red tile is in the word but in a different box, and a grey tile is not in the word at all.

Pairdle Standard: LOATHE
Twelve tiles, three boxes, solved in three guesses.

Tuesday's Pairdle board had twelve tiles and three boxes, so the answer had six letters. The board words were ALLIED, CAMPUS, LOATHE and WITHIN. The tiles could also spell CAMPED, CAUSAL, CAUSED, HEALED, HEALTH and HEATED. None of those six were on the board. They were traps, built from tiles that belong to other words.
The first guess was the trap CAUSAL. CA, US and AL all came back grey, and those three tiles left the board. That ruled out CAMPUS, which needs CA and US, and ALLIED, which needs AL. Only LOATHE and WITHIN were left.

The second guess was another trap, HEATED. HE turned red, so HE is in the answer but in a different box. AT turned blue, so AT sits in the middle box. ED came back grey and left the board.

WITHIN has no HE and no AT. LOATHE has both, with AT in the middle and HE at the end. The third guess was LOATHE. LO and HE turned blue next to the AT that was already in place. Three guesses.

Every word the Standard tiles could spell
The board is built from four words. Any other word the same tiles can spell is a trap: it looks right, but it was never on the board.
- ALLIED, on the board
- CAMPED, trap word (not on the board)
- CAMPUS, on the board
- CAUSAL, trap word (not on the board)
- CAUSED, trap word (not on the board)
- HEALED, trap word (not on the board)
- HEALTH, trap word (not on the board)
- HEATED, trap word (not on the board)

Pairdle Pro: COMMENTS
Sixteen tiles, four boxes, solved in two guesses.

Tuesday's Pairdle Pro board had sixteen tiles and four boxes, so the answer had eight letters. The board words were BIRTHDAY, COMMENTS, DIRECTLY and OUTGOING. The tiles could spell one more word, ENCODING, which was not on the board. That was the trap.
The first guess was the trap ENCODING. EN and CO both turned red, which means they are in the answer but in different boxes. DI and NG came back grey, and those two tiles left the board. That ruled out DIRECTLY, which needs DI, and OUTGOING, which needs NG.

BIRTHDAY has neither EN nor CO. COMMENTS has both, with CO first and EN third. The second guess was COMMENTS, and CO, MM, EN and TS all turned blue. Two guesses.

Pairdle Expert: INDIGENOUS
Twenty tiles, five boxes, solved in two guesses.

Tuesday's Pairdle Expert board had twenty tiles and five boxes, so the answer had ten letters. The board words were HANDCUFFED, INDIGENOUS, PARAMETERS and STRENGTHEN. The tiles could also spell INTERESTED and RESTRAINED, which were not on the board. Both were traps.
The first guess was the trap RESTRAINED. RE, ST, RA and ED came back grey, and those four tiles left the board. That ruled out three words at once. PARAMETERS needs RA, STRENGTHEN needs ST, and HANDCUFFED needs ED.

IN turned red, which means it is in the answer but in a different box. In RESTRAINED it sat in the fourth box. INDIGENOUS was the only word left, and it starts with IN.

The second guess was INDIGENOUS. IN, DI, GE, NO and US all turned blue. Two guesses.
