In Pairdle every tile is two letters, and each box in the answer row takes one tile. After a guess, a blue tile is the right pair in the right box, a red tile is in the word but in a different box, and a grey tile is not in the word at all.

Pairdle Standard: MANILA
Twelve tiles, three boxes, solved in two guesses.

Tuesday's Pairdle board had twelve tiles and three boxes, so the answer had six letters. The tiles spelled four words: DISPEL, MANILA, OUTLET and STAIRS. There were no traps, so every tile belonged to one of those four and the answer was one of them.
The first guess was OUTLET. OU, TL and ET all came back grey, which left DISPEL, MANILA and STAIRS.

Nothing on the board pointed to one of the three, so the second guess was a straight pick. MA, NI and LA went in and all three turned blue. MANILA in two guesses, with a bit of luck.

Pairdle Pro: COLORING
Sixteen tiles, four boxes, solved in three guesses.

The Pro board had sixteen tiles and four boxes, so the answer had eight letters. The tiles could spell five words: ALTERING, ANALYZED, COLORING, KILLINGS and PROSTATE. ALTERING is the trap. It ends in RI and NG, the same two tiles as the answer, but it is not on the board.
The first guess was KILLINGS. KI, LL, IN and GS all came back grey.

The second guess was the trap, ALTERING. AL and TE went grey, while RI and NG turned blue, so the answer ends in RING with RI in the third box and NG in the fourth.

Of the words left, only COLORING ends that way. CO went in the first box and LO in the second. All four blue. Three guesses.

Every word the Pro tiles could spell
The board is built from four words. Any other word the same tiles can spell is a trap: it looks right, but it was never on the board.
- ALTERING, trap word (not on the board)
- ANALYZED, on the board
- COLORING, the answer
- KILLINGS, on the board
- PROSTATE, on the board

Pairdle Expert: NEGOTIATOR
Twenty tiles, five boxes, solved in three guesses.

The Expert board had twenty tiles and five boxes, so the answer had ten letters. The tiles spelled four words: CONDITIONS, ELOQUENTLY, NEGOTIATOR and TRANSCENDS. There were no traps.
The first guess was ELOQUENTLY. EL, OQ, UE, NT and LY all came back grey.

The second guess used the five tiles of NEGOTIATOR in a jumbled order: GO, NE, AT, TI and OR. GO, NE, AT and TI all turned red, which means each one is in the answer but in the wrong box. OR turned blue, so it stays in the last box.

Putting the four red tiles in order gives NE, GO, TI, AT, OR. All five blue. Three guesses.
