In Pairdle every tile is two letters, and each box in the answer row takes one tile. After a guess, a blue tile is the right pair in the right box, a red tile is in the word but in a different box, and a grey tile is not in the word at all.

Pairdle Standard: SCRAPS
Twelve tiles, three boxes, solved in two guesses.

Tuesday's Pairdle board had twelve tiles and three boxes, so the answer had six letters. The board words were SCRAPS, HUDDLE, STEREO and DEBTOR. The tiles could also spell STRAPS, SCORER and HUSTLE, which were not on the board. Those three were the traps.
The first guess was the trap STRAPS, made of ST, RA and PS. ST came back grey and left the board. Losing ST also ruled out STEREO and HUSTLE.

RA turned blue in the second box and PS turned blue in the last box. So only the first box was wrong. HUDDLE, DEBTOR and SCORER do not end in RAPS, and SC in front of RAPS makes SCRAPS.

The second guess was SCRAPS, made of SC, RA and PS. SC turned blue next to the two pairs already in place. Two guesses.

Every word the Standard tiles could spell
The board is built from four words. Any other word the same tiles can spell is a trap: it looks right, but it was never on the board.
- DEBTOR, on the board
- HUDDLE, on the board
- HUSTLE, trap word (not on the board)
- SCORER, trap word (not on the board)
- SCRAPS, the answer
- STEREO, on the board
- STRAPS, trap word (not on the board)

Pairdle Pro: LAVENDER
Sixteen tiles, four boxes, solved in three guesses.

Tuesday's Pairdle Pro board had sixteen tiles and four boxes, so the answer had eight letters. The board words were LAVENDER, WORKABLE, LIBERALS and RECITING. The tiles could also spell LABELING, LEVELING, RELATING, RELATIVE and RELIABLE, which were not on the board. Those five were the traps.
The first guess was the trap RELATIVE, made of RE, LA, TI and VE. RE and TI came back grey and left the board. Losing RE also ruled out RECITING.

LA and VE turned red. Both pairs were in the answer, but in the wrong boxes. LA was not in the second box and VE was not in the last box.

The second guess was the trap LEVELING, made of LE, VE, LI and NG. LE, LI and NG came back grey and left the board. Losing LI also ruled out LIBERALS.

VE turned blue in the second box. WORKABLE has no VE, so the answer had to start with LA and then VE. That is LAVENDER.
The third guess was LAVENDER, made of LA, VE, ND and ER. LA, ND and ER turned blue next to VE, which was already in place. Three guesses.

Every word the Pro tiles could spell

- LEVELING, trap word (not on the board)
- LIBERALS, on the board

Pairdle Expert: CULTIVATED
Twenty tiles, five boxes, solved in three guesses.

Tuesday's Pairdle Expert board had twenty tiles and five boxes, so the answer had ten letters. The board words were CULTIVATED, ORGANIZERS, RESURGENCE and STRAWBERRY. The tiles could spell those four words and no others, so there were no traps.
The first guess was STRAWBERRY, made of ST, RA, WB, ER and RY. All five pairs came back grey and left the board.

The second guess was RESURGENCE, made of RE, SU, RG, EN and CE. All five pairs came back grey too and left the board. That left ORGANIZERS and CULTIVATED.

The third guess was CULTIVATED, made of CU, LT, IV, AT and ED. All five pairs turned blue. Three guesses.
